Cambodia Gambling Dens

[ English ]

There is a captivating story to the Cambodia casinos that sit just over the border from next door Thailand, in which gambling hall wagering is banned. Eight gambling halls are based in a generally small space in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling halls is in a perfect area, a three to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest gaming centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The astonishing income acquired from the gambling halls ranges from $7.5 million to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a couple of restrictions requirements for casino ownership. Ownership is presumed to be largely Thai; however, funding sources are cryptic. The borders are formally open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and though visas are supposedly necessary to cross, there are ways around this, as is accurate of many borders.

The 1st Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving just a single gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary bateau gambling hall, highlights one hundred and fifty slot machines and sixty gaming tables. The Naga gambling hall never closes with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of 21, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long followed. A total of 150 slot machine games and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four one armed bandits and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slots and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 one armed bandits and ninety six gaming tables, including 87 baccarat banque (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five one armed bandits and 66 of the common table games, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 gambling dens in Poipet, also in a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and 97 table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-around resort and hotel complex that contains many comforts accompanying the gambling den, which houses ten thousand sq.ft. of 130 slot machines and 88 tables.
